Planning, or development control, is the controlling process for housing, shops, work places, minerals and land use. The Local Planning Authority (LPA) covering Highcliffe and Walkford, is BCP Unitary Council.

Highcliffe and Walkford Parish Council is a statutory consultee on all planning applications. This means that the LPA must, when making decisions on development control  take note of the comments made by the parish council. The parish council exercises it role as a consultee via the HWPC Planning Committee. These meetings are held in public and the public (including the applicant) can address the council.

Highcliffe and Walkford Parish Council has developed a Neighbourhood Plan which has been adopted by BCP Council.

Please note, that the parish council cannot grant or refuse planning permission.

The LPA makes its decisions following guidance in the National Planning Policy Framework, the Local Plan and established planning law.
